Peter
Mauss lives in Marlboro, Vermont, and has been
photographing stonework by Dan Snow, his friend and neighbor,
for a number of years. Snow is a mason who builds walls, terraces,
caverns and other structures. The book on their work together,
"In the Company of Stone: The Art of the Stone Wall" was
published by Workman Press in 2001. “Snow's evocative prose
and
Peter Mauss' s richly textured photographs reveal the nuance
and beauty of walling and of one man's relationship with nature.
